Kerry Solmonsen joined Pointe3 Real Estate in January of 2018. Kerry’s enthusiasm and love are contagious, and you see her passion for empowering people in everything she does. I sat down with Kerry to learn more about her for this month’s Agent Spotlight!
1. When and why did you get started in real estate?
I am in my first year in real estate, and I LOVE it! I have always had a passion for loving and serving people. So, when a good friend of mine who is an agent, urged me to take the leap of faith, I quit my “regular-job” and got my license, and here we are!
2. Why did you join Pointe3 Real Estate?
My friend Tony was extremely happy as an agent with Pointe3, and he knew I would feel the same way. When I met with Kevin, Ashley, Emma, & Carrie for the first time- I knew I was home. The culture they have created aligned perfectly with the type of business I wanted to create. I knew I could thrive in this environment, and it has proven to be true. The level of support and encouragement they continue to demonstrate will be paramount to my success in this industry!
3. What neighborhood(s) do you specialize in?
I have a great passion for the plateau neighborhood that I live in, Enumclaw, and the surrounding areas. They are such wonderful places to live and to build community. I have close ties to Puyallup and Sumner as well. That being said, I will go where my clients ask me to go. It is one of the great things about real estate.
4. What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of being a real estate broker?
I try to continually focus on the gratifying aspects. Real estate is not easy. It is emotional and complicated. But it is overwhelmingly gratifying. The experience of presenting a family with the keys to their first home, the relationships that are created during the process, and the comradery and cooperation with other agents, are all things that I cherish about this life.
5. What do you foresee in 2018/2019 real estate market?
Speculation is dangerous. Even in the short period of time that I have been in this industry, I have seen a significant shift. That being said, I immerse myself in industry news and research, so I think the market will stay strong, but every smart agent is prepared for the slowing, as it will eventually come.
6. Do you have any advice for someone looking to buy or sell a home in today’s competitive market?
My best advice is to have an advocate on your side. So many people think they can do this without an agent. They think because the market is good, that it is simple. I think the only way to navigate in this competitive market is to have someone on your side that actually cares about you as a person AND has the expertise to make your buying or selling dreams a reality.
7. Tell us about you! Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside?
I have lived most of my 43 years in Western WA. I grew up in the Fairwood area, have lived in Black Diamond, Puyallup, and now currently live in Enumclaw, for the second time! This place is pretty magical. People leave, and most often find their way back here eventually!
8. What are your passions or hobbies outside of real estate?
People are really my passion. I have a great love of serving others and I am lucky to have many ways to do that in my life. I love to empower and educate, I have taught many seminars, am writing a book, and have a Facebook interview segment that I use to help promote small businesses and local leaders in my community. In my free time, which is limited, my husband and I spend lots of time on our Harley when we are home and sneak away to Arizona as often as we can!
9. What are your favorite things to do in the area?
My favorite things to do are extremely varied. Thankfully, we live in an area where you can go to a formal five-star dinner one day and ride your horse in the foothills the next- all within an hour’s drive. I love that it is a place where you can do almost anything from fancy to filthy. We have great shopping, dining, and entertainment, as well as hiking, paddleboarding, rodeos and farmers markets! It is easy to see why people are moving to the Seattle area in droves!
10. Why should someone choose you as their real estate broker?
Real estate is so much more to me than the home that you are buying or selling. It is your life. So much of the quality and satisfaction of our lives are tied to where we live. A life well lived means something different to each one of us. Getting you moving in the direction of YOUR ideal life is my life well lived. Anyone can sell you a house; anyone can help you buy a house. What I truly care about is the experience you have while in the buying and selling processes. I am your partner, your advisor, your advocate, and your friend. Buying and selling can be daunting but my level of service and care will guide you through these experiences unscathed! We will get you the best house for your buck. We will list, market, and sell your home in a way that puts the most money possible in your pocket. And, in the end, you will look back on this process fondly and know that I did everything in my power to create the best real estate experience possible for you!
