Kim Reidy has been a key part of the Pointe3 leadership team, with a focus on helping individuals lease, buy, and sell property in the greater Seattle area. Over the past few years in her role as Director of Relocation, Kim has helped hundreds of newcomers find their ideal home in the greater Seattle area. From this experience, she has the ability to hear and understand her client’s needs and match them with their ideal neighborhood in addition to their ideal home!

I sat down with Kim to learn more about her for this week’s Agent Spotlight!

1. When and why did you get started in real estate?

I started at Seattle Rental Group about 9 years ago as a temp. I had thought about real estate before but never considered it a career until I started at Seattle Rental Group and Pointe3 Real Estate. Emma Davis, the Chief Executive Manager, thought my personality was a good fit as an agent. She encouraged me to take the classes and try taking on relocation clients to see if it was a good fit for me as well. After my first tour I knew I found something that really utilized my skill set and I fell in love.

2. When did you join Pointe3 Real Estate?

I started on June 30, 2008 as an office assistant and then moved into leasing and sales on October 15, 2009 and have been doing it ever since!

3. Why did you join Pointe3 Real Estate?

I was able to start from the bottom and work my way through the brokerage. I have always been attracted to knowing my company from the inside out. I also really like being in a small local business and not just another number in a big company.

4. What neighborhood(s) do you specialize in?

Being in relocation I am familiar with the entire greater Puget Sound area. I live in Ballard and have lived in Seattle proper for the last 17 years. I can be a great resource in the personalities of the different neighborhoods in the city but have also worked from North Bend to Everett and everything in between.

5. What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of being a real estate broker?

Finding that perfect home! In relocation, the client has a very small and specific time frame to find that perfect home and neighborhood so we have to be organized and great communicators. I really enjoy helping people new to the area find their ideal neighborhood while getting them up to speed with our current conditions so we can enter the market with confidence and find a great home.

6. What do you foresee in the 2016/2017 real estate market?

I believe we will see most bidding wars slow down for the winter but we will see another strong spring and summer in 2017.

7. Do you have any advice for someone looking to buy or sell a home in today’s competitive real estate market?

Find the right agent. Make sure you find an agent that you communicate with well and that will tell you frankly about the market conditions instead of telling you what you want to hear to get your business.

8. Tell us about you! Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside?

I was born in New Jersey (same hospital as Bruce Springsteen) on my family’s moving day to Pennsylvania. I pushed our move back a couple of weeks but spent most of my childhood in Harrisburg, PA. In my early 20’s I knew it was time for a change and packed my car and drove to Seattle. I had never been west of the Mississippi and never met anyone that lived in Seattle but had a hunch. 17 years later (on 9/9) I still love living here!

9. What are your passions or hobbies outside of real estate?

Live music. My hobby and vacation schedule revolves around Pearl Jam’s tour schedule. I try to get out to live music once a week. I also enjoy taking my pup to the park and meeting friends for a glass of wine.

10. What are your favorite things to do in Seattle?

I love to take my dog for a walk, stumble on a new band or check out an indie documentary. I love to wonder around downtown and soak in the city.

11. Why should someone choose you as their real estate broker?

I am organized, honest, experienced and motivated by my relationships with my clients. I am not worried about how much I can make being your broker. I want to sleep at night knowing I have your best interest in my heart.
