Yvonne Svasand started with Pointe3 Real Estate in 2013. She is a native to the Seattle area, has lived in Ballard for the past 25+ years, and is considered a neighborhood expert.

Yvonne is an experienced broker, who works hard to market and sell your home or find you the new home of your dreams. She also assists in Relocation and Rental Market services via Seattle Rental Group.

We sat down with Yvonne to learn more about her for this week’s Agent Spotlight!

1. When and why did you get started in real estate?

I first became interested in real estate when my kids were young. I was a stay home mom and took care of my 2 children/household while my husband was gone traveling for his job. My first passion was always to be a Mom. We were quite fortunate to be able to provide that for our children. It’s not so easy now-a-days!

I felt like I had really become a great person and Mom but felt hungry to do more. I decided to pursue real estate in 2004, once my daughter started kindergarten. It was the perfect job to create my own schedule, still be that stay home Mom, and carve around the hours for the family. Not only did I benefit my kids by being a stay home Mom but now I could bring something to the table myself and really feel like I was making a difference.

2. Why did you join Pointe3 Real Estate?

I had been with a very large brokerage firm for 10 years. It served my needs during that time. After being in real estate for many years, my needs were changing and I was looking for something a bit more “boutique”. I wanted to feel inspired and have a closer bond with my firm. When I found Pointe3 Real Estate, it was the perfect fit. Not only have I felt part of this great family, but feel valued and invested. Best business choice I ever made!

3. What neighborhood(s) do you specialize in?

North Seattle/Magnolia/Queen Anne/Shoreline

4. What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of being a real estate broker?

I would say the most gratifying feeling of being an agent is when you win the multiple offer! It’s our job to be ahead of the other brokers and be completely calculated in our next step. I pride myself on being a great negotiator and getting my clients the perfect home. I like to make people smile and I have done my job correctly when we are walking through the front door! The challenging portion of this job is when there may not be enough inventory on the market. Sometimes we are given very specific criteria and we have to stay within those guidelines for our clients. Not being able to provide enough homes for them can be hard at times but I always strive my hardest to find them that perfect home.

5. What do you foresee in 2016’s real estate market?

I will predict more clients wanting to purchase/sell in 2016. The interest rates are unbelievably low. The market in Seattle just keeps getting stronger!

6. Do you have any advice for someone looking to buy or sell a home in today’s competitive real estate market?

Buyers – I would definitely suggest you get all your ducks in a row and get yourself pre-approved at your earliest opportunity. The market is hot and fast and you have to be ready to pull the trigger at a moments’ notice.

Sellers – Be ready when your home goes on market. Pictures are worth a thousand words. Make sure your home is “show ready”: new paint, staged and clutter free is the best, but keeping things tidy and fresh are most important. Curb appeal is huge. Make sure you have fresh flowers or a newly painted door. It may seem small but they go a long way in appealing to the consumer.

7. Tell us about you! Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside?

I grew up in Olympia, WA. I lived there until I was 21. I relocated to Texas for 3 years and eventually moved back to Seattle where I have been residing in Ballard for the past 25+ years.

8. What are your favorite things to do in Seattle?

I love the water. Some of my favorite hobbies are boating, gardening, and dining out with good friends/family in Ballard.

9. Why should someone choose you as their real estate broker?

I am motivated, a great communicator, compassionate, a strong negotiator, and hone in on the small details clients are looking for. I work hard from beginning to end, making the process as seamless and stress free as possible for the client. I pride myself on being referral based in my career. If I can make a difference for one person or a family, then I have done my job right!
